FACILITIES

92 STABLES WITH EQUILUX LIGHTING

At Shalfleet we house a mixture of styles of stabling to suit all horses.  They are all well ventilated and sociable.  From brick built, to wooden stabling.  They are kept well disinfected and painted, with a good bedding of the finest shavings.  We also have installed the Equilux lighting to provide a natural rhythm to the horses' body clock and allow them to get undisturbed rest, replicating outdoor natural lighting.

TWO COVERED HORSE WALKERS

We have two Claydon horse walkers, both covered to allow gentle exercise in any weather.  Whether to warm the horses up and loosen their muscles before ridden exercise, or they are in need of unridden exercise to aid the healing of a minor injury.  It also provides all our horses a leg stretch at evening stables.

TURNOUT PADDOCKS & SAND PIT

On purchasing Shalfleet Stables in 2020, we embarked on making the land as useful as possible.  We cleared a nice green site to one side of the yard, which allowed us to post and rail ten lovely paddocks for our horses to be turned out in post exercise to have a buck and roll.  It is a joy to see them each morning enjoying themselves and getting their head down for a pick of grass.  We also created a sand pit, which post exercise they love to roll around in!

INDOOR RIDE

We are lucky to have this facility in order to collect as a string before heading out on to the heath.  It allows the horses to settle, get in order, and our riders to hear clear instructions for the upcoming exercise.

WORLD RENOWED GALLOPS

Newmarket is the home of Horseracing, and its array of gallops are second to none.  The Jockey Club Estates dedicated team work tirelessly to provide unrivalled gallops for us all to use, from the famous Warren Hill gallops, to the Al Bahathri, the Limekilns, Long Hill, Side Hill, Town Canter, the Water gallops, the Golden Mile and many many more, we are so fortunate to be able to cater for every type of exercise needs our horses require.

OFFICE & OWNER FACILITIES

When we moved in to Shalfleet one of the first jobs was to create a welcoming office for our visitors to come to before seeing their horses.  We developed a spacious office, with seating, a kitchen and bathroom.  It overlooks the yard, walkers and paddocks.  It is the hub of SPCW.
